Abstract

Visual culture contributes to reflection and the development of critical thinking; however, it is not taken into account and is not always used as a means to promote values. This paper presents an approach to this field of study emerging from short theater plays, with a special emphasis on the origin of the problems and their possible repercussions in society. In this sense, a qualitative methodology is used through non-participant observation and content analysis of the different proposals offered in Guayaquil city, as well as a bibliographic and documentary review of the micro-theaters. As a result, an approach to the collective imaginary and the critical capacity that exists in Guayaquil is obtained. Among the conclusions, it is highlighted that the slang used influences as a means of cultural transmission that strengthens or destroys the values of the audience that visits these short theaters plays.
