Abstract

Wastewater treatment is a crucial process for environmental protection and public health. The design of wastewater treatment plants (WWTP) is complex and requires precise calculations. DataProy is a hydroinformatics tool developed to streamline the work of the Hydraulic engineer in the design of WWTPs. The objective of this study was to develop a mobile application for calculating WWTP design parameters. An analysis of existing tools, Cuban standards for wastewater discharge and technologies for the development of mobile applications was carried out. The DataProy application was validated by a group of experts and its performance was evaluated in a test environment. The results of the study demonstrated that DataProy is an accurate, efficient and easy-to-use tool for WWTP design. The tool allows calculations of design parameters such as wastewater flow and dimensions of the different plant elements. DataProy has the potential to improve the efficiency of WWTP design in Cuba, which would result in better wastewater treatment and greater environmental protection.
