Abstract

An empirical study was carried out using quantitative methodology, through a cross-sectional design, with a sample of 300 people, through a convenience sampling made up of 100 Argentine men and women, and in the same proportion 100 Ecuadorians and 100 Mexicans. Grosso modo few differences were found between the samples, this could be due to the fact that they share similar characteristics as they are Latin Americans. Ecuadorians and Mexicans reported more use of dating apps to have sexual encounters during this period. Regarding the tension in the couple relationship, Mexicans reported greater pressure and negative sexual experiences. In this line, close to 30% reported having had sexual relations with people who did not live with them, but they reported that a topic of conversation was contact with people with COVID-19 infection, being Ecuadorians who consider a better idea, the use of mask during sexual encounters. It is concluded about the importance of generating interventions aimed at managing the use of apps to find a partner, because the participants have increased their use, and mismanagement can bring some negative consequences. Although the participants reported feeling good in their relationships, in the case of Mexicans some risks associated with violence were found, so that prevention and treatment programs should also be generated.
