Abstract

The objective of the article was to review the available literature on SARS-CoV-2 related to gynecologic consultation and care that emerged in 2020 and the first semester of 2021. The methodology consisted of a review in the electronic databases Pubmed, SciELO, Elsevier and Redalyc; as well as in the Google Scholar search engine, extended to the references of the articles found. In terms of results, gynecological consultations have been restricted to pregnant women, emergencies, oncological and postoperative patients. Routine check-ups and fertility treatments have decreased; women must attend the clinic unaccompanied, for their safety and that of all; their stay at the health center has been reduced to a minimum, as well as the duration of visits. In conclusion, health centers are being staffed only by the indispensable personnel, with the protection required by regulations, to cover specialized medical care; and systematic disinfection of both the offices and the diagnostic and treatment facilities, including the respective high-tech equipment and apparatus, has been intensified; specialist gynecologists should be aware of the increase in cases of infection with COVID-19 and, therefore, it is important to be prepared.
